A Scottish (UK) SME in the construction sector is looking for a partner to provide assistance to commercialise the process of converting aerogel insulation into short length fibres. There are challenges with the base material that need to be overcome and therefore dialogue with experts in cutting abrasive, dusty materials would be advantageous. The partnership envisioned is under an outsourcing or manufacturing agreement.
The Scottish (UK) SME provides innovative, high performance, technical solutions to the construction industry and are looking to partner with a company with experience in converting and processing material.
The requirement is to take offcuts of aerogel insulation, which comprise of long fibre lengths, and turn it into short lengths which can then be used as a blown cavity insulation system. There are a number of challenges with the material including dust generation and the abrasive nature of the insulation.
Significant research has been carried out by the SME but now they are looking for partners to help commercialise the process either by providing cutting expertise or possibly supply and/or modification of cutting equipment under a manufacturing or outsourcing agreement.
